MLAstro Firmware Installer
This is a tool for reflashing firmware on your MLAstro Harmonic mounts
- This tool can be used on any operating system as long as you have a Web Browser and can connect to your mount via USB cable
- First, power the mount using a 12V PSU. Remove all telescopes and any load. Connect the mount to the same computer you are using to view this webpage using a known good USB cable.
- Choose the version you want to flash on the drop down list, note the version number
- Then click CONNECT to connect to your mount. It should appear as “CP2102 USB to UART”. If it does not appear, make sure the CP2102 USB driver is installed. Power down the mount, unplug the USB cable, then reconnect and try again.
- If the mount doesn't show in the CONNECT window, follow instructions here (You only have to install the CP2102 driver, no need for ASCOM). USB driver for Windows/MacOSX can be downloaded here here. MacOSX and Linux likely doesn't require driver install
- Continue as instructed. Do not turn off or disconnect power from the mount while it is flashing. The flashing process will take a few minutes. Once the system indicates the flashing is complete, power cycle the mount.
- Troubleshooting: 1. If the website says it's "Failed to open serial port", it means one of ASCOM/INDI application is connecting to the mount. Please disconnect all applications that is connecting to the mount (NINA/PHD2/KStars/MLAstro Hub...), restart the mount and try again.
- 2. If the website says it's "Failed to initialize, try resetting your device by Holding down the Boot button". You should do the following: Power cycle the mount, wait at least 30s before close the web page, open it again and try flashing the mount again. If that doesn't work, try changing the flashing USB port or the flashing computer. If that also doesn't work then open the front plate of the mount (where there are the MLAstro Logo), there are 2 sets of BOOT/RST button on the back of the board, you press and hold the Boot Button on the OnStepX pair while clicking Install on the website. (Remember to reset the mount before refresh and retrying on the webpage)
